Basic Stretches
To maintain or improve flexibility it is important to stretch the muscles on a daily basis.
To maintain flexibility you should hold the stretches for about 10-15 seconds (3 sets if possible)
To improve flexibility you should hold the stretches for about 30-45 seconds (sets if possible)
You should stretch immediately following exercise - whether its after kickboxing, or after other sports.
If you are improving flexibility, expect your ability to decrease for a few weeks as your nervous system getused to your new range of motion.
Here are some examples of stretches - please make sure you are suitable to do these stretches before trying them.. and that you are warmed up. Slowly apply the stretches to the maximum stretch to avoid the muscles tensing.
